Town of Hatfield, MA / Police Chief Posting

The town of Hatfield, through its Board of Selectmen, seeks qualified applicants to replace our full-time Police Chief who will be retiring. Hatfield is a historic agricultural town with a classic New England town atmosphere situated along the Connecticut River. Hatfield has a population of 3,411, a total area of 16.83 sq. miles and a land area of 16.02 sq. miles. Major Interstate Rt. 91 and Rts. 5 and 10 are accessible from Hatfield. The Police Department employs a full-time Lieutenant, full-time Sergeant and several part-time officers. The Police Chief is responsible for all functions associated with the daily operation of the Department, including development of plans, procedures, and exercises. Prepares budget and plans long-term capital improvements and capital equipment. Candidate must possess the following: completion of Massachusetts Police Training Academy for full-time status, five years of progressive supervisory experience, Massachusetts license to carry a weapon or ability to obtain a license. A valid Massachusetts driver’s license is required. Screening process will commence Jan. 9, 2017. Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
