Chief Michael J. Bradley, Jr. (Ret.) is an experienced law enforcement professional with a distinguished 30-year career. His journey in law enforcement began in 1994 with the Upton Police Department, where he went on to become Chief of Police for the Upton Police Department in 2008. His leadership role expanded in 2021 when he was appointed to the position of Director of Public Safety, overseeing Police, Fire, EMS, and Emergency Management operations until his retirement in 2024.
Chief Bradley’s commitment to service extended beyond his local department as he assumed various leadership positions. Notably, he was elected as Sergeant-at-Arms in 2017 and later served as President of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association in 2022. Additionally, he played key executive roles with the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission serving as Treasurer of the organization.
In 2022, Chief Bradley’s accomplishments were acknowledged on a wider scale when he was designated the SACOP representative for Massachusetts on the North Atlantic Region Board of IACP. In this influential role, Chief Bradley collaborated with leaders from different parts of the country to address vital law enforcement issues.
Furthermore, he demonstrated his commitment to law enforcement by serving on the Board of Directors for the Municipal Police Institute and Central Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association. Chief Bradley holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Curry College and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Framingham State University. He resides in Upton with his wife Tammy and has two sons and a daughter.
