Active membership with voting privileges may be granted to individuals serving as a Chief of Police or in an equivalent full-time law enforcement leadership role in Massachusetts, including acting chiefs and public safety directors with arrest authority. Approval requires a recommendation from the Membership Committee and a majority vote of the Members. Applicants who do not hold one of these roles will be reviewed by the Membership Committee and submitted to the Members for approval or denial by majority vote. Each police department or law enforcement agency is limited to one active membership.
Membership Application Process
- Complete the inquiry form below.
- Your inquiry will be reviewed by the MCOPA Office.
- Once reviewed you will receive an email from us with a link to complete our online membership form.
- Upon completion of the membership form, the MCOPA Office will approve your application and assign your profile to the respective membership level and access to the website will be issued accordingly.
*Note: In the event you are replacing an Active Chief due to retirement, the MCOPA Base dues will automatically roll to you for the remainder of the calendar year.
